New Toilet Facilities

The new toilet facilities were officially opened at the Club’s Coffee Morning held today.  The Chairman thanked the organisations that had provided funding – The Big Lottery Fund, Devon County Council, West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock Town Council  – as well as those Club members who had given of their own time to help finish the project.

Work started on the new toilet facilities on Thursday 7 May.  Reports and photos will be published on this page charting the progress of the work.

Week Twenty-One

Members complete the gloss painting and door varnishing ready for use by the first Coffee Morning of the autumn on Saturday 3 October and the Short Mat Bowls Tournament on Sunday 4 October.

Club members have put up disabled handrails, mirrors and soap dispensers, and put undercoat on the skirting boards.

Week Nineteen

Builder, plumber and electrician finished. Remaining work to be carried out by Club Members.  This week the walls were painted.

After an extended period waiting for the floor to dry, the new floor covering has finally been laid.

The contractors for the work are N.J. Doidge (Building), R. Jenkins (Electrician) and NTEC Services (Plumbing).

25 March 2015

The Club has received confirmation that it has secured a grant of £2,500 from West Devon Borough Council towards the building of new toilet facilities adjoining the Clubhouse. The Club is very grateful for this support and work is expected to commence at the end of April.

29 January 2015

The Club has been notified that it has been successful in its application to Tavistock Town Council for grant funding towards the new toilet facilities. The Club has been awarded £3,500 from the Council’s 2015/2016 budget. This now brings the Club very close to achieving the goal of £25,000 required to build the toilets and is very grateful for all the support it has received.

The Club’s plans to build new toilet facilities adjoining the Clubhouse extension moved ahead apace when the Big Lottery ‘Awards for All’ provided a grant of £10,000 towards the project cost of £25,000.  image

The Big Lottery Fund is responsible for giving out 40% of the money raised for good causes by the National Lottery.  The fund is committed to bringing real improvements to communities and the lives of people most in need and has been rolling out grants to health, education, environment and charitable causes across the UK. Since its inception in 2004, it has awarded close to £6bn.

9 October 2014

The Club has been awarded an additional £2,000 towards the toilet facilities from the Devon County Council Capital Fund allocated for dispersal by Councillor Debo Sellis. The Club is very grateful for the continued support of Cllr Sellis.

11 August 2014

Councillor Debo Sellis has awarded the Club a grant of £500 from her Devon County Council Locality Budget towards the new toilet facilities.

New toilets are planned to be built integral to the Clubhouse and will incorporate disabled, gent’s and ladies’ cubicles. The total cost of the project is £25,000 and grants will be sought.
