Unfortunately, persistent heavy rain during the morning rendered the Green unplayable for the final game of the season on Saturday 20 September. However, after a later start than normal, Members and guests enjoyed a very sociable afternoon in the Clubhouse. Luckily, the skies cleared in time for the barbeque to be fired up and a wonderful spread was prepared for those in attendance. Two events were celebrated during the event. Firstly, in honour of long-standing Club Member Norman Paramor’s 90th birthday, a lovely cake had been made which was shared with those present. Secondly, in memory of former Club Member and Bar Manager, Charles (Chas) Carter, a plaque was presented to his widow, Brenda – the plaque will be placed above the bar naming it Chas’s Bar.
